Storyteller/Writer

Eleanor Chornoboy, a master storyteller, has spent her life weaving narratives that resonate deeply with the human experience. From her earliest days, she was captivated by the tales of her family, handed down through generations. Eleanor's passion for preserving these stories has culminated in two acclaimed books - "Faspa: A Snack of Mennonite Stories" and "Faspa with Jast: A Snack of Mennonite Stories." Her storytelling prowess extends to children's literature as well, with heartwarming creations like "Snow Angels" and "Pajama Tears."

Yet, it's Eleanor's best-selling novel, "Katarina: Mennonite Girl from Russia," that stands as a testament to her ability to bring history alive. This coming-of-age saga follows a young girl's triumph over the trials of leaving Russian-occupied Ukraine in the 1870s to forge a new life in Canada. Chornoboy's storytelling touches the heart and imagination, capturing moments of human experience with compassion.

Beyond her written works, Eleanor's solo productions take center stage, where she embodies Mennonite women's roles in the home, on the farm, and in their communities. Her performances, like her stories, transport audiences of all ages to a forgotten way of life, evoking memories and painting vivid mental images. Eleanor Chornoboy's storytelling is an art form that bridges generations, emotions, and memories.
